Professional Development

A five-week Professional Development Workshop is incorporated into the TD summer program to teach youth about workplace attitude, effectively applying soft skills, how to dress and perform on a job, how to apply for a job, how to dress for interviews, what interview questions to ask and follow-up interview actions.  Youth practice these skills with an actual mock interview.
The Professional Development Workshop concludes with a panel discussion about mapping their career trajectory, utilizing life skills, the power of networking and mentoring and other topics selected by the youth. The panel consists of established professionals, typically working in areas of interest of the youth.  The youth serve as moderators and are charged with facilitating the discussion by asking questions most important to them so as to maximize the effectiveness of the panel.
Ms. Sargent has been a part of TD since 2013 and has single-handedly created and developed the Professional Development Workshops.
